Is It Worth It?
Despite all the hassle of getting Scrappy prepared to go and bringing him back to the UK, there is no way I would have left him behind.
He has made the trip so much better for us as we’ve had to go out exploring places for him to have his daily walk. He’s also started many conversations for us by trotting up to people to have his tummy rubbed!
However, if we hadn’t already had Scrappy then I wouldn’t have gone out and bought a dog especially to come along for the trip, but I didn’t see bringing Scrappy as too different to bringing along a hypothetical child – you wouldn’t leave them behind so why leave your dog behind?
He is part of our family and it would have broken our hearts to have to find a new home for him.
Yes, it’s been hard work and it has cost more at times… Vet visits, paperwork, food provisioning and the rest is an added expense but he’s worth it ten times over.
We love him to bits and makes sure he knows that every single day!

It’s not as hard as I thought it would be and Scrappy has really helped us get out and about and explore our surroundings more than we probably would have done.
Travelling with a dog does require a bit of forward thinking but the rewards of bringing them along are definitely worth it in my eyes.
