SOme extra points

  • Your arrival here needs to be well timed with the tides (aim to arrive around slack water to make entrance as easy as possible – strong currents otherwise).
  • Take care when entering the area before the lock as there is a lot of silt built up around the edges.
  • Only a short walk into the city centre from the marina.
  • Marina is secure – a code is needed to unlock the gate to get onto the pontoon.
  • Lots of restaurants and pubs nearby.
  • Great selection of museums and art galleries to look around close by.
  • Wings‘ restaurant is well worth a visit!
  • Be prepared to do a lot of walking if you’d like to explore the city (there is public transport also but walking gets you in the thick of it!)
  • The showers are in a large room (clean, tidy and modern) with a very high ceiling so be prepared to be cold before, during and after your shower.
